2000 The Vintage
As Oregon Wine Magazine exclaimed, "Three’s a Charm!" Along with the years 1998 and 1999, the harvest of 2000 continued a trend of yielding exceptional fruit. Marked by mild, dry weather in the spring and summer, and temperate weather in the Fall, the 2000 season was a winner!
2000 Vintage Select Pinot Noir
Our 2000 Pinot Noir was harvested from the vineyards indicated above between October 8th and 14th. The Pinot Noir was carefully vinified to emphasize the fullness and complexity of the fruit and balanced acidity. The grapes were whole-berry fermented in our open-top primary fermenters, with punch-downs done twice daily. After pressing off, the wine was racked into French oak barrels for 6 to 8 months aging, depending on the lot. A longer period of bulk aging rounded off and finished the wine.
Our 2000 Pinot Noir is a medium-bodied, crisp, delicious wine, exhibiting a delightful melange of bright fresh fruits redolent of cherries and raspberries, accompanied by lightly integrated toasted oak aromas of cedar and vanilla, and a delicately lingering crisp finish. Pair with substantial cheeses and bread, pork roasts, veil, lamb.
